That Moon Energy!

Did y'all catch that lunar eclipse last night? WOWZA! Storms aren't the only thing I love about the sky! Eclipses, meteor showers, auroras, sundogs... sky art is never-ending! I pull so much inspiration from the sky! Yes, primarily my focus is on the array of colors in the towering thunderheads at sunset, but color inspiration is everywhere! As I stare at the variations of reds and oranges within the eclipsed moon of last night, I start to wonder what colors I would use to get that effect on fabric. It would take some trial and error for sure. I might start mixing orange or peach with yellow to get a soft golden yellow and then very slightly add some reds into the mixture as the gradient begins to darken. I may try mixing it with some browns- like Mars brown which lends itself to the redder side of the browns. I would add water to lighten the colors, maybe a smidge of black to get a little darker shade... When I see gradients of color like this, my mind goes crazy thinking of all the ways one might go about recreating them!

When artists create beautiful things, it is usually because they have SEEN beautiful things on and around this awe-inspiring place we call home. I am forever grateful to be surrounded by all the things that drive my passion for color and for art. I will always be that girl with blue and purple fingers and toes, tie-dyeing in the yard barefoot. I will always be that girl sitting in a lawn chair in my back yard watching a meteor shower for hours. I will always be that girl standing alone in a field with a tripod during an intense lightning storm. I will always be that girl crawling on top of my roof to get the best shot of the line of storms on the horizon as the sun ignites their color. I will most definitely always be that girl that most of my neighbors say "oh it's just Amy doing her thing," and other neighbors say "what on earth is that girl doing in that tree in a bathrobe?" Hahahaha!! I'm a dreamer. I'm a beauty chaser and creator. I would not have me any other way ;)
