Mommy and Me

Happy Mother's Day everyone! Whether you are near to your mother, or far away, today is a day to acknowledge all the special gifts we have received from the women who brought us into this world and/or raised us. I am grateful for the friendship my mother and I have, for the creative conversations we have, for the non-stop laughter on the phone, and for the unconditional, nurturing love she has shown me and instilled in me as I became a mother myself. As a child, I remember watching my mom put brush to canvas and create beautiful landscape and wildlife oil paintings. She has always had an arts and crafts room from the time I was little until this very day, and it makes me smile every time I walk into my own arts and crafts room now as an adult. For Mother's Day this year, I gifted my mom a new tabletop easel so she can continue her artistic adventure, which has always shown to inspire me and mine. I am so very thankful to be an artist, much like my mother. We may use different mediums, but I am my mother's daughter.
